Raytheon (NYSE: RTN ) landed a trio of Pentagon contracts Friday, worth more than $105 million combined. In ascending order of value, they consisted of:
A $9.8 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for "Plan X" mission execution software. This contract aims to design and develop a "runtime environment" for executing "cyber operations mission scripts" -- beginning to standardize how cyber warfare operations might be conducted in the future. Raytheon's involvement in this contract will be completed by Oct. 31, 2017. A $19.6 million modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price contract to perform design and engineering analysis on AIM-9X Block II Missile Systems for the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force, and the government of Saudi Arabia. This contract will be completed in June 2014. A $75.9 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to perform Standard Missile engineering and technical services -- including R&D work, production engineering, and production proofing services for the U.S. Navy. Initially, Raytheon's work on this contract is expected to conclude in December 2017. However, if work on this project is continued, and options to extend the contract are exercised, the value of Raytheon's award on the Standard Missile contract could rise more than fourfold, to $316.5 million.10 Best Shipping Stocks To Buy For 2015: Dollar Tree Inc.(DLTR)

If you're anything like me, two things went through your head when you saw this. First, you regret that you missed out on the investment opportunity. Since the end of 2009, shares in all three of these companies, led by Dollar Tree (NASDAQ: DLTR ) , have simply trounced the broader market. Even the worst performer of the bunch, Family Dollar (NYSE: FDO ) , beat it by nearly a factor of two.

European large-cap pharmaceuticals like Novartis (NVS) and Bristol Meyers Squibb (BMY) count amongst some of our favorite stocks right now, as do U.S. multinationals that are growing revenue and margins in Asia Tupperware (TUP) is a shining example. Stay away from utilities and energy stocks, as they are likely to be the laggards over the next year.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Dan Carroll]
Investing in China represents far more of a risk than the likes of JPMorgan, despite whatever hurdles regulators can throw at the big bank. Despite strong growth in past years that has propelled China's economy to the second-largest in the world, the bubbling housing market, rising middle class, and poor infrastructure climate will challenge the nation in the coming years. If investing in China's growth story tempts your hand, it's better to find a buy among the strongest global companies betting on the leading emerging market's growth. Industrial giant Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT ) has hitched much of its future on China, and while slow sales have hit Caterpillar hard lately, this is one stock that's poised to capitalize in a significant way of Chinese economic growth picks up in the future. At a cheap P/E, Caterpillar -- which sits atop the cyclical industrial industry -- is a safe pick to invest indirectly in China.

The Dow surges, but international results remain mixed
The Dow has gotten off to a good start to the year despite being weighed down by a few lagging stocks, such as industrial giant Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT ) . While a majority of Dow stocks have recorded double-digit percentage gains in 2013, Caterpillar has lost more than 10% so far due to slowing economic conditions around the globe. Sales are falling at the company, and China's recent slowdown has sent investors fleeing.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Dan Caplinger]
Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB ) will release its quarterly report on Friday, capping an up-and-down quarter for the stock. With U.S. natural gas prices having risen somewhat from their lows last year and with oil prices remaining above $100 per barrel, Schlumberger earnings have the fundamental support in place to drive higher.
